Positive Intelligence (PQ) empowers you to build mental fitness, giving you the tools to conquer self-sabotage and unlock your true potential.
This program is for anyone who is ready to shift from mental stress to lasting resilience and purpose-driven success. By strengthening your mind’s positive responses, you’ll gain clarity, elevate performance, and experience deeper fulfillment across every aspect of your life.
Positive Intelligence (PQ) is a six-week training using a simple, highly validated method for achieving breakthrough results:
This typically leads to better productivity, engagement, well-being, and peace of mind—including a remarkable reduction in self-limiting and self-sabotaging thoughts, feelings and behaviors. PQ is a godsend for executives and managers, parents, spouses, anyone who sometimes struggles to remain focused and productive without stress, reactivity, depression or unhappiness.
The PQ practice is self-directed and asynchronous using the PQ app.
The app is based on best educational and motivational practices.
Practice makes progress, and this program is designed for both—regardless of how busy life may be. The training breaks down into three simple parts:
15-min of daily practice broken into three separate segments each weekday
Listen to a one-hour video over the weekend that cues up the following week’s focus
Participate in a one-hour weekly online small group pod
There are also a rich variety of self-directed practices on the app (called PQ reps), in addition to those included in the training. These are great for walks, for getting centered and focused before important conversations or events, or for serving a natural impulse for accelerated development. The essential practice is bringing focused attention to one sense at a time.

The basic practice—PQ reps—involves bringing acute attention to one sense at a time. It is a mindfulness practice, however, rather than being a technique for clearing the mind, PQ reps are intended to focus the mind and leave it more open to useful inputs, innovative ideas and workable solutions.
Remarkable third-party research powerfully validates these techniques. For a compelling example, listen to this Hidden Brain interview with guest Norman Farb, the co-author of Better in Every Sense—How the New Science of Sensation Can Help You Reclaim Your Life. The meat of the conversation begins at 20 minutes in.
There’s good reason PQ has been embraced by major corporations and universities. This whitepaper both updates and expands the original neuroscience foundation of Positive Intelligence, based on the latest findings in this fast-evolving field.
In our experience, based on working with more than a thousand clients over 30 years, people do not fundamentally change as a result of great ideas.
Mental and emotional fitness is a lot like physical fitness—it is based on a commitment to repeating targeted practices over time. The result is the ability to quickly identify and break out of repetitive judgmental thoughts that produce:
This opens the way for focused and effective action—without procrastination, false starts, or reactivity. The predictable result is better peace of mind, happiness and fulfillment. For those motivated to invest in modest consistent effort—in service of rapid game-changing results—PQ is an extraordinary tool.

As co-founder of Couples Solutions, I have been leading psychoeducational programs for couples for 30 years, in addition to serving as an instructor and curriculum developer for PAIRS International, Matrix Leadership, and Fearless Living. With multiple coaching certifications and decades of experience as a master Enneagram instructor, I bring a deep level of commitment to my client’s success.
I previously owned a survey engineering firm, contributing to projects such as Concourse B at Denver International Airport, the Federal Solar Energy Research Facility, and the East Campus of CU Boulder, while also working as a boundary law instructor, expert witness, and consultant.
As a PQ coach, I draw on a broad skill set to facilitate small groups, where the benefits of the practice are powerfully reinforced. Sharing challenges and breakthroughs within these groups fosters accountability and inspiration, offering a uniquely effective way to become more aware of—and responsible for—our impact on others. Meaningful bonds of friendship and respect are a common outcome.
The program begins with an exploration of how default mental loops undermine our happiness, affecting our ability to reliably achieve commitments and manifest our desires. These are universal challenges, involving judgments of ourselves, of others, and of circumstances as being unacceptable.
Being in resistance to what is actually happening disrupts problem-solving, lowers morale, and makes progress unlikely, if not impossible. Each individual has a blend of secondary saboteurs unique to them, which have correlates in the Enneagram. However, this application of those nine distinctions is more accessible and immediately useful than traditional Enneagram studies.
For more details—and to assess the typical ways in which you self-sabotage—take the Saboteur Assessment.
Self-awareness gained from understanding our saboteurs and their diabolical impacts is crucial. However, the bulk of the PQ program focuses on replacing these defaults with forward-focused techniques that bring mastery to any situation, no matter how challenging, including strategic planning and human motivation.

Relating can be a hassle
Even though you love them a passel
You start off real nice
But then you think twice:
Did I make a mistake?
Is there no give and take?
Joy’s hard to find
When you’re losing your mind
It’s hard to know
Which way to go
Things are so fraught
My efforts are naught
How can I make things better?
I heard about this class
And figured… I would pass
But then, I thought again
If there’s any chance to win
I oughta give it a try
There’s lots of reasons why
Much to my surprise
I found love in my partner’s eyes
Now our life’s so sweet
At last I feel complete
